Unbreakable and Flexible AMOLED screen by Samsung

July 20, 2010

Samsung has created an unbreakable AMOLED display for their devices. The fact is the screen is so flexible it is very hard to break it, even with a hammer. Here Samsung has used a plastic AMOLED panel that is covered with a very thin film transistor and the vinyl protection sheet is replaced  with a polyimide film.

These new AMOLED displays also can be bend without breaking. Samsung is planning to get this AMOLED screen out within two years.

This video clips shows a hammer hit the flexible, 2.8-inch display that is about 20 micrometers thick but there’s not a scratch on the OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display. In comparison, an LCD screen shatters when its hit. It sounds very impressive.
