Tawkon is an interesting application which show you amount of radiation emitted by the iPhone when the death grip apply on it. It also works for BlackBerry 9700 and Nexus One devices.
Here is some quick information on the technology used by the Tawkon app.
Tawkon is based on the patent-pending RRITM (Real-time Radiation Indication) technology that collects and analyzes RF-related data extracted from the mobile device. Complex algorithms considering environmental and personal usage factors help determine actual radiation exposure levels. Results are calibrated in an RF lab to ensure radiation levels are accurately monitored and that actions taken actually helped lower the user’s exposure to radiation.
When the phone comes in the Death Grip situation, it leads to the decrease in the signal being received by the phone so it start to transmit more power in order to maintain good cellular connectivity and that’s why the radiation levels increased.
This video demonstration using Tawkon shows how the Death Grip increases radiation levels on smartphones iPhone 4, BlackBerry 9700 and Android Nexus One.
As you can see, the Death Grip issue is not only affects call drops in iPhone but also increase radiation levels.
The Tawkon app on BlackBerry is available from App World but Apple hasn’t yet approved it.
