Apple has released iOS 4.2 beta for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and it is only available to developers. Now If you have upgraded your device to iOS 4.2 beta and want to go back to iOS 4.1 on iPhone or iPod Touch, here’s are instruction to Downgrade iOS 4.2 Beta.
How to Downgrade iOS 4.2 to 4.1 for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
1: Download and save the iOS 4.1 on your desktop (links here).
2: Than follow these steps to put your iPhone in DFU Mode:-
- Connect your iPhone to your computer and Turn iPhone off.
- Start iTunes
- Hold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so.
- Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device.
- iTunes will now recognize your device.
Note:- if you are see a Restore Logo on your screen than you are in Recovery Mode, not DFU mode.
3: Click OK button on the appeared message in iTunes.
4: Now, You will have to restore your iPhone to iOS 4.1, for this press and hold Option/Alt key (For Mac) and Shift key (For Windows) on the keyboard while you click the Restore button in iTunes.
5: Browse and Select the iOS 4.1 and wait until the automatic restore process finish.
6: If you see any iTunes errors as 1011, 1013, 1015, just ignore them because the 4.1 firmware is already installed successfully.
7: At last, download RecBoot program (For Windows and For Mac) to exit recovery mode, just download and launch it, hit Exit Recovery Mode button to finish.
Now you are done. You have successfully downgraded from iOS 4.2 to iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch.
