Web developer Chris Black has developed an HTML5 animation made using the Canvas tag against the same animation running in Flash. The results may surprise you:
- HTML5 Canvas on iPhone 4G: 22fps
- HTML5 Canvas on Nexus One: 40fps
- Flash Player 10.1 on Nexus One: 57fps
Watch the video about Flash Outperforms HTML 5 on Mobile devices.
As you can see, Canvas performance on the new iPod Touch 4G is poor at 22FPS rendering simple animation. But tat least he Nexus One can muster up a decent frame rate (40FPS) for basic canvas rendering. And the Flash Player 10.1 on the other hand, blows HTML5 out of the water running at 57FPS on the Nexus One device.
