Finally, iPhone Dev Team has managed to jailbreak iOS 4.1 device using the Pod2g’s SHAtter exploit.
They have published a video for this upcoming jailbreak tool SHAtter on iOS 4.1 iPod Touch 4G.
we’ve put @pod2g’s exploit into a beta version of PwnageTool to test the waters. The SHAtter exploit was enough to convince the iPod touch 4G to restore to our custom IPSW. The successful result is shown below! It’s all working: customized Preferences to show battery percentage, Cydia, root shell…the works!
SHAtter is the tethered (not confirmed yet) jailbreak tool for iOS 4.1 which may jailbreak all existing iOS iDevices iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G.
Its main use in PwnageTool will be for those with iPhone 4’s, to allow updates while preserving the baseband and ultrasn0w carrier unlock.
Moreover, SHAtter exploit can’t be patched with software or firmware update and requires new bootrom to get patched. So to patch the SHAtter jailbreak, Apple has to come up with new iDevices with a new bootrom.
Now wait for the release of the final version of SHAtter tool by iPhone Dev Team.
