Remove the Category Slug/Word from your WordPress URL

By default WordPress set category URL with the word Category word or prefix within it. Some users may not like this URL stucture and it not also SEO URL. You can remove the Category slug using a simple Plugin – Top Level Categories.

The Top Level Categories WordPress plugin allows you to remove the Category word from your WordPress URL.

For Example:-

• Your  URL – http://www.yoursite.com/category/name
• With the Plugin – http://www.yoursite.com/name/

WordPress doesn’t allow you to have a blank prefix for categories so they insert category before the name and this plugin works around this restriction.

This plugin is very easy to use. First install the Top Level Categories plugin in your WordPress blog and Activate it. That’s it.
