Few days ago we published a post that, AppleTV with iOS 4.1 can be jailbroken using the Pod2g’s SHAtter Exploit. Now, MuscleNerd has announced on twitter that new Apple TV 2G has SHAttered & Jailbroken.
SHAtter is the same exploit already is being used in upcoming iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4G jailbreak (Greenpois0n) on iOS 4.1.
MuscleNerd also said that he is “not quite sure how to run apps yet!”. so still iPhone Dev Team has to figure out a way to run apps on jailbroken AppleTV.

It’s confirmed…SHAtter can trick Apple’s new AppleTV 2G into restoring to a pre-jailbroken IPSW from PwnageTool too! Literally the only UI application on the ATV is Lowtide.app, but now the window is open for jailbroken apps of all varieties. (Just like the early iPhone days, the only apps you’ll see on the AppleTV will be jailbroken ones). In the meantime, here’s a video showing root access (via ssh) into Apple’s new product.
As you can see in this clip, they used SHAtter exploit with PwnageTool and created a custom iOS 4.1 firmware and then restore it to Apple TV 2G via iTunes.
