Jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G with PwnageTool 4.1 [Mac]

iPhone Dev Team has just released the PwnageTool 4.1 to jailbreak iOS 4.1 devices untethered. The main benefit of PwnageTool is, it allows iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users to preserve their basebands and let them unlock their devices using Ultrasn0w1.1-1.

The PwnageTool 4.1 supports iOS 4.1 firmware on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (both new and old bootroms), iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G. It also can jailbreak Apple TV and iPad (iOS 3.2.2) devices.

Here are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 4/3GS and iPod Touch 3G/4G on iOS 4.1 using the PwnageTool for Mac.

Jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4/3GS and iPod Touch 4G/3G using the PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac

1. First launch the PwnageTool 4.1. If you see a pop-up message, click OK button.

2. Select the Expert mode from the top menu bar.

3. In the next select your iPhone/iPod Touch model and click the next.

4. Click the Browse for IPSW button, select your firmware from the popup window and click the Open button.

5. In the next window, you will see a menu with several options, select General and than click the next button.

- In the General settings, you can adjust the size of the partition size.Check the Activate the phone if you are not with an official carrier and deselect Activate if you have an iPhone legitimately activated on an official carrier.

- Here you can also select iOS 4 features such as Multitasking, Wallpapers and Battery Percentage. When you are done, click the next button.

6. In the next Cydia settings menu, you can add repositories and Cydia applications directly so don’t have install them manually later on.

- To do this, go to Manage Sources and add all the sources that you want. Now go to the Download Packages tab, refresh the list and select the all apps you want and click on Add to queue. All the apps will be displayed in the Select Packages tab. Select them and click the blue arrow button.

7. In the next window, check the option Cydia Installer to install it.

8. Select Build and than click next button to start creating your custom firmware.

9. You will be asked to save your custom IPSW file. Choose the path and save it on your computer.

10. Now wait until the custom firmware is built and saved on your computer.

11. Once your custom IPSW has been built you will be asked to connect your iPhone to the computer. Now it’s time to put your device into DFU mode, follow the steps on the screen to enter your iPhone into DFU mode.

12. Once your iPhone is into DFU mode, PwnageTool will prompt you to launch iTunes. Hold the Alt/Option key and click Restore button in iTunes.

13. Select the custom IPSW firmware you just created and click the Choose button. Wait until the restore process finished. This may take up to 10 minutes.
