The first unofficial app to come to Jailbroken Apple TV 2G is called nitoTV. It was announced just after the iPhone Dev Team released the new version of PwnageTool 4.1.
nitoTV is a front end application for the popular mplayer media player. Using perian and Apple’s DVDPlayback.framework, users can create playlists and add files or folders of their choice. You can even use NitoTV to play nes, snes, genesis, game gear and gameboy advanced roms, view RSS feeds and 3-day Weather forecasts.
NitoTV, which is also available for the first generation Apple TV. At this point, you should be able to play almost any media file type. Although the app doesn’t mean much, but it shows a great progress in running apps on jailbroken AppleTV.
The screenshots below were posted to NitoTV’s twitter account. They show a new NitoTV menu item and working weather forecasts.
Currently, there is no any word about the release date of the app.
