How to Create free Custom Ringtones for iPhone using iTunes 10

This is a tutorial shows how to create free ringtones for you iPhones using iTunes and songs you already have on your computer. This method has been tested and works with iTunes 10 and iPhone 4.

Follow these steps by steps guides to make free ringtones for iPhone using iTunes.

How to Create Free Ringtones for iPhone with iTunes

1. First launch iTunes (don’t need the iPhone connected), go to Music and select the song you want to create a ringtone out of.

2. Right click on the song and select Get Info option.

3. Go to Options tab, check the Start Time and Stop Time boxes, input the the starting and ending time you want. But make sure it is between 30 seconds or less. Click OK when you are done.

4. Now in iTunes, go to Edit > Preference, in the General tab click on the Import Settings.

5. Change the Import Using to AAC Encoder and hit the OK button.

6. Now go back to the iTunes Music, right click the song you have selected before for ringtones and click on the Create AAC Version from menu.

7. Now, you should have two songs with the same name in iTunes Music folder. One the Full song and the other ringtone (with short seconds duration).

8. Drag (or copy) the ringtone song (AAC version) to your desktop and change it .M4A extension to .M4R extension.

9. After that add this song to your Ringtones folder in Library and sync your iPhone with iTunes.

Now you are done. You can see the song in the iPhone and can use it as Ringtone.
