Recently on Twitter, MuscleNerd has posted a screenshot saying Cydia is undergoing a major update and will bring overall performance improvements, a refined UI and a more native interface to the iPad.
Cydia doesn’t work on iOS 4.2 because some of the frameworks that Cydia was relying on prior iOS 4.2, are not present in the latest iOS.
Saurik, the developer of Cydia and Chpwn, the iPhone hacker, are working hard to get Cydia ready in time for iOS 4.2 and subsequent release of jail-breaking tools.
Its look like, the upcoming update of Cydia does not only fix iOS 4.2 compatibility, but also brings a redesigned user-interface. It also may bring multitasking support or any other new features.
Chpwn has also posted a screen shot displaying Cydia in landscape mode on iPad.
The new Cydia update, is expected to be released with the jailbreak for iOS 4.2 devices. That should be released shortly after iOS 4.2 goes public.
