Hexxeh, A UK based hacker who created Bootlace app to port Android directly on iPhone 3G, has successfully installed Android OS to iPhone 4 and iPad, and released a video showing it.
For those who don’t know, OpeniBoot is an open source implementation of iBoot bootloader for Apple iOS based devices. It allows booting of unsigned code such as Linux kernels on the device. OpeniBoot is critical for booting and usage of Linux based distros such as Android on the iPhone as it sets up and initializes many devices ready for the Linux kernel to take over.
OpeniBoot is currently being used to allow installation of Android on iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G and 1st Generation iPod Touch.
