Taiwan’s FLC launches Tycoon TVB00 tablet powered by Windows 7 Home Premium

November 13, 2010

Taiwan-based PC and consumer electronics ODM, First International Computer (FIC) earlier this week debuted its tablet, called Tycoon TVB00 powered by Windows 7 Home Premium.tycoon-tvb00-tabletThe Tycoon TVB00 tablet features a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, a 10-inch TFT-LCD multi-touch screen, 2GB DDR3 memory and a 120GB internal hard disk, Wi-Fi connection and a weight of 840g.

FIC points out that despite the Windows 7 platform support of multi-touch inputs, the interface is still optimized for a mouse and keyboard. Also, not all Windows 7 apps work properly on a tablet, so FIC worked on solving these two issues, with technical help from Microsoft.

FIC chose Windows 7 rather than Android or another OS because of the number of apps and business users.

The Tycoon TVB00will go on sale in Taiwan from November 13th onwards with a price tag of NT$19,800 which comes out to US$657. It will be sold through U-Life TV shopping channel with Vibo Telecom Inc acting as the telecom partner. The company has set a modest target for itself, aiming to sell just 3,000 units of the tablet before 2010 draws to a close.
