Add 3D Cube Effect to iPhone & iPod Touch Springboard with Barrel [Cydia App]

Aaron Ash the developer behind Multifl0w app, has just developed a new amazing tweak called Barrel which adds a cool 3D icon effect to your iPhone and iPod Touch Springboard.

The name is a play on “Beryl”, which is both a mineral and the name of a Linux window manager that got merged with Compiz. Compiz was an inspiration for making this icon effect, if you haven’t seen it’s awesomeness in action

In the tweak’s settings, you can customize the effect to have the icons appear as if you’re either Inside or Outside the cube. You can configure Barrel’s option from within Settings.app.

This is similar to the Compiz desktop effect seen on Linux where instead of scrolling between pages, you scroll between different sides of a cube.

Barrel won’t add any new icons on your iPhone & iPod Touch springboard. It requires iOS 4.0 + and not for the iPad.

Of course, you will need to have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to install the Cydia plugin. Follow the step by step guide to jailbreak your device with Limera1n or GreenPois0n if you haven’t already.

Barrel tweak is available on the Cydia store for $2.99 via BigBoss repository.
