iPhone Dev Team releases Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 to eliminate the External Usbmux process

iPhone Dev team has released the Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 4  for untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak. The Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will eliminates the need of separate usbmux process so many more Mac users can use it.

For those who don’t know, Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta implements the backup plan for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak. It can be used to untethered jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch 4G running iOS 4.2.1.

Update #4: The fourth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Starting with this version, redsn0w no longer requires you to install and run a separate program for the usbmux (this was a non-trivial procedure for many).   It’s okay to keep that program running if you normally use it for ssh anyway.  We also think we’ve fixed a race condition in the GUI that was causing redsn0w to crash during the “Preparing JB Monte Files” step. Nothing at all has changed on the iPhone side (where the main issues are still just Bluetooth and Skype).

Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will still have the requirements of having a saved 4.2b3 SHSH and Windows version of Redsn0w 0.9.7 should follow immediately after Redsmn0w 0.9.7b4 testing.
