Mac users can automatically search the new Mac App Store when they click on a file Mac even doesn’t recognize. But if you want to see what apps can handle certain extensions yourself, you can do that, too.
Follow the step by step instructions to search the Mac App Store for applications that can open a specific file extension.
1: Launch the Mac App Store from your dock and if you do not have Mac App Store then install it by upgrading your Mac OS to Snow Leopard 10.6.6.
2: in right upper corner you will find Search field, so type there “extension:file extension type” (for example Extension:jpg or Extension:Doc).
3: Now you should see the list of applications that can open that extension provided by iTunes.
