How to Enable Active FaceTime Video calling on your Jailbroken iPad using “Intell”

Here is a good news for iPad users, now they able to enable the FaceTime features on their iPad using a hack called “Intell”. Basically, this hack installs the iPod Touch 4G FaceTime app on the iPad, but there is no front-facing camera in iPad so users only can hear, can’t see.

In order to enable FaceTime on your jailbroken iPad, you need to copy below folders from your iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4G to your iPad running iOS 4.2.1.

Conference.framework, IMCore.framework MobilePhone.app, ConferenceRegistrationSettings.bundle, AVFoundation.framework, Celestial.framework, and the UISounds. Now follow this step by step instructions to active FaceTime on iPad.

How to Enable FaceTime Video Calling on Jailbroken iPad

1: First make sure your iPad is jailbroken, if not than follow these guides to jailbreak your iPad.

2: Download OpenSSH via Cydia on your iPad. Install it and reboot your iPad.

3: Windows users can use WinSCP while the Mac can use Cyberduck. Enter the following details to login to your iPad:

Cyberduck

• Server: The IP address of your iPad. Settings –> WiFi –> <Your Network Name>
• Username: root
• Password: alpine
• Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)

WinSCP

• Hostname: The IP address of your iPad. Setting –> WiFi –> <Your Network Name>
• User name: root
• Password: alpine
• Protocol: SCP

4: Connect your iPad with your computer via SSH. Make sure that iTunes is not running.

5: SSH to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/

6: Rename Conference.framework to ConferenceiPad.framework and IMCore.frameworkto IMCoreiPad.framework

7: Upload the Conference.framework and IMCore.frameworks from the iPod Touch 4 or iPhone 4 to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/

8: Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/ and download theK48AP.plist for editing.

9: Add

<key>venice</key> <true/>

under the capabilities array, then upload the modified version to SpringBoard.app on the iPad replacing the unmodified version

10: Upload the ConferenceRegistrationSettings.bundle from the iDevice 4 to/System/Library/PreferenceBundles/

11: Navigate to /System/Library/Frameworks/AVFoundation.framework/K48/ and rename AVCaptureSession.plist to AVCaptureSession.bak2

12: Upload the AVCaptureSession.plist from the iPod Touch 4/System/Library/Frameworks/AVFoundation.framework/N81/ or/System/Library/Frameworks/AVFoundation.framework/N90/ from the iPhone 4

13: Navigate to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Celestial.framework/K48/ and rename AVCapture.plist to AVCapture.bak2

14: Upload the AVCapture.plist from the iPod Touch 4/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Celestial.framework/N81/ or/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Celestial.framework/N90/ from the iPhone 4

15: To get the sounds woking navigate to /System/Library/Audio/UISounds/ and putvc~ended.caf, vc~invitation-accepted.caf, and vc~ringing.caf from the iDevice 4 into the iPad’sUISounds folder

16: Navigate to /Applications/Preferences.app/ and download the Settings.plist

17: Remove the requieredCapabilites key and its accompanying array from item number 26, save, then replace the version on the iPad with modified version

18: Edit the info.plist in the MobilePhone.app that is from the iDevice 4. ChangeCFBundleDisplayName~ipod to CFBundleDisplayName~ipad, CFBundleIconFiles~ipod toCFBundleIconFiles~ipad, CFBundleURLTypes~ipod to CFBundleURLTypes~ipad,UILaunchImageFile~ipod to UILaunchImageFile~ipad, and add a 2 to the UIDeivceFamily array

19: Replace the Default~ipod.png with this file, then upload the MobilePhone.app to the iPad’s /Applications/ folder

20: Navigate to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/TelephonyUI.Framework/ and rename bottombarknobgreen.png to bottombarknobgreenT.png

21: Reboot and enjoy FaceTime on your first-gen iPad.
