Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 Untethered on iPhone 4 & iPhone 3GS with PwnageTool Bundles

Nadeem Ateyeh (@Nadeem97), an iPhone Hacker has just released PwnageTool bundles for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS which can jailbreak untethered these devices on iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading their baseband. So after jailbreaking your iPhone with PwnageTool, you will be able to unlock it with the latest version of Ultrasn0w available.

How to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 iPhone 4, 3GS using PwnageTool 4.1.3

1. First you have to download PwnageTool bundle for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, then extract the .zip folder, and copy iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a.bundle (for iPhone 3GS) or iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148.bundle (for iPhone 4) to your desktop (all links are given at the end of this post).

2. Now you have to download PwnageTool 4.1.3 and then copy it to your desktop. Now simply right click, and then click on “Show Package Contents” as you can see from the image below.

3. Now simply copy the .bundle files to PwnageTool.app/Content/Resources/FirmwareBundles/

4. Now go to Contents/Resources/CustomPackages/CydiaInstaller.bundle/ and then copy here the info.plist file.

5. Download iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS then move this IPSW file to your desktop.

6. Start PwnageTool in “Expert mode” and then choose your device.7. Then browse for iOS 4.2.1 firmware for your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS.

8. You must uncheck the “Activate the Phone” option under “General” and “Cydia Installer” package is selected under “Cydia Packages” option before proceeding with the create-the-bundle process. In order to start creating custom 4.2.1 firmware file simply select “Build”.

9. Now the custom .ipsw file will be created by PwnageTool for your iPhone which will be jailbroken.

10. Than put your iPhone into DFU mode by following the steps given below:

• Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds
• Then release the Power button but keep holding the Home button for 10 more seconds
• Now your device should be in DFU mode

11. Now start iTunes, then from the sidebar in iTunes simply click on the icon of iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS. If you are on Windows then simply press and hold the Left “Shift” button and if you are Mac user then simply press and hold left “alt” (option) button and click “Restore” button in the iTunes and then release this button. 12.Choose the location for your custom firmware 4.2.1 file. Choose the required custom .ipsw file and then click on “Open”.

13. Wait until iTunes installs the new firmware 4.2.1 on your iPhone. Your iPhone will be restarted automatically after the installation is completed.

You are done now. Now you have jailbroken iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS untethered on iOS 4.2.1 with PwnageTool. Now you can unlock your iPhone 4 (baseband 01.59.00) or iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.2.1 using Ultrasn0w unlock.
