MWC 2011: iPhone 4 Awarded “Best Mobile Device”

During the Mobile World Congress 2011 (MWC 2011) in Barcelona, Spain, Apple’s newly released iPhone 4 was awarded for “Best Mobile Device” award at the Global Mobile Awards ceremony, for its great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. Apple didn’t attend the MWC 2011.

Judges’ comments:
Great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smart phones.

The nominees for the “Best Mobile Device” award category included:

Apple iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire, LG Optimus 7 (running Windows Phone 7) and BlackBerry Torch 9800.

While the HTC won the award for “Device Manufacturer of the Year”. The judges praised the Taiwanese company, saying that

The company has built its market presence from nowhere, with fresh branding and marketing and a strong portfolio of devices across many platforms. In particular, it has proven an exceptionally popular and enduring phone manufacturer. With great communication and good customer service, this is a well-deserved award.
