At the iPad 2 Media event, Apple announced two new accessories Smart Cover for iPad 2 and Apple Digital AV Adapter.
The Digital AV Adapter offers HDMI mirrored video output for iPad 2, which allows users to mirror slides, movies, photos, websites or more from iPad 2 screen to your widescreen TV, video projection screen, or any HDTV compatible display in 1080p HD.
In addition to working with the iPad 2, the Digital AV Adapter also supports the first generation iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G.
The HDMI out works with all apps and using it requires no setup or configuration. Just connect the Apple Digital AV Adapter to your iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch 4G via the 30-pin dock connector and to your HDMI-compatible display using an HDMI cable.
A second 30-pin connector built into the AV adapter lets you charge and sync your device while it’s connected to your HDMI-compatible display.
Apple’s Digital AV Adapter costs $39. It doesn’t support 1080p output on iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G, only support 720p, and also won’t be able to mirroring screen like iPad 2.
